Policies
Dyslexia Services of North Texas requires that all clients sign the appropriate service engagements for private instruction, education consultations, dyslexia assessment, training, speaking, or educational advocacy. Dyslexia Services of North Texas will not be able to begin work on your behalf without this signed engagement form, intake paperwork, signed release of information, a retainer fee, and current method of payment on file. Contract scope is expressly defined in the terms of the document. Any modifications in terms of service must be explicitly written in an amendment and signed by all parties.
Business Hours
The Dyslexia Services of North Texas staff may be instructing, assessing, consulting, in the field attending meeting or observing. Please allow up to 48 hours to respond to all communications.
Business Hours are from 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Weekends are not considered business hours, unless specifically arranged for testing.
Private Instruction
All class fees and Virtual communications must be prepaid. No services will be provided without appropriate paperwork and payment.
The instructional balance is due at the beginning of each month after both parties agree on instructional dates and times of that month.
If you are more than 15 minutes late for a teaching session, without calling, the session will be paid in full (not carried over to the next month) and the client will be taught at the next agreed-upon session.
If for some reason a class must be cancelled by the student, a 6 hour notice is required, or full payment will be taken for the class.
If 6 hours of advance notice is give, the class will either be rescheduled for an agreed time or will be carried over to the following month’s payment.
Dyslexia Services of North Texas reserves the right to cancel class due to inclement weather; whereas, the client will be called.
One 15 minute conference is encouraged to discuss student progress each month.
Due to the unique circumstances surrounding each student’s ability to learn, there are no educational guarantees made by Dyslexia Services of North Texas on the rate of student’s academic growth.
Although, it is best to give the instruction a minimum of 4 weeks before a review should be considered. Termination of instructional services may be requested at any time; the remainder of the prepaid lessons will be refunded in this case.
Education Consultant Advocate
I am not an attorney, I am a family support.
A 30-minute free consultation on the first visit allows both parties to become comfortable.
A retainer fee of $200 will be requested at the signing of the client agreement for consultation or advocacy services of which the balance will be returned upon termination of services.
Consultation, advocacy, or assessment fees are paid in full before the report will be released to the client.
Unless arrangements have been specifically made in writing with Dyslexia Services of North Texas, failure to pay for services will result in immediate termination of the service contract, forfeiture of any retainers, deposits or credits, and may result in legal action.
No refunds for services are given. Any unused monies will be credited for any future service.
Emergency Cancellation/Rescheduling
Although emergencies happen, we ask that you notify us if you need to cancel an appointment.
If you are more than 15 minutes for a scheduled appointment, without calling, your appointment will be rescheduled.
If you neglect to notify us that you are canceling your appointment at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting time, half of the standard fee for that meeting will apply. The fee must be paid before rescheduling the appointment or will be taken from the retainer fee accordingly.
If there are 24 hours or less before you notify us of your cancelling, client must call directly or leave a voice message. In this case, clients know that the full standard fees will apply. The fee must be paid before rescheduling the appointment and will be taken from the retainer fee accordingly.
Outcomes
I am NOT a licensed attorney. All fees pertain to face-to-face or virtual communications. As a lay advocate, I do not practice law nor dispense legal advice. Mine is a supporting role for families. If you require legal services of an attorney, I will advise you of such.
Client(s) understand there are not guarantees of success in obtaining the desired results for the child/party by the Client(s). It is understood by the client(s) that the Consultant’s primary responsibility is to consult in a manner to address what is in the best interest of the child. Federal and/or state laws must be applied and are out of the control of the Client(s) and the Consultant’s score of influence.
